I find these blogs truly amazing. Ok, so, she was 17 at the time. Like most teenagers, she’s likely been sexually active for at least a couple years by that point. She knows what she has, and guess what? She’s working it. Just like every other single woman on this planet.
Yes, she’s a minor. Is she nude? No. Bikinis designed for females her age show just as much, and often less, than what she’s showing on stage. So where exactly is the issue?
Is it because she’s a “role model”? So is Miley Cyrus. She’s was posing with nothing more than a sheet on with her dad sitting right next to her when she was a minor. That got brushed under the rug pretty quickly. So, it’s ok to pose nude with your dad, but not “flash” when you’re covered and to an audience of people primarily around your own age. Really, what most of this comes down to is she’s not making pop or country music. If she was, it’d all be quickly swept under the rug, just as it is for them. Other “role models” directed at a much younger age group are exposed for actions like these, and worse (drugs, posting fully nude pics on facebook or texting them, having sex with much older people, etc), and we hear about it for all of five minutes. Now, a person who doesn’t target exclusively young minors as their audience does it and suddenly she’s unoriginal. A skank. A dirty piece of trash. A bad human being.
Double standard much? And lets not forget, if this was a male we’d all be cheering him on.
I have young twin girls. Personally, I’d much rather they look up to a person like Tayler than a Miley. Why? Because she’s open with what she does. She’s been honest. She does what she enjoys for a living. People all over talk crap about her and look down on her, but for all her party attitude, flashing and whatnot she’s a heck of a lot better person than 99% of the people making negative comments about her. Other people might consider her actions crazy or stupid, but by all accounts she’s being a heck of a lot safer in doing them than pretty much any other teen on this planet.
So, yeah, I’d much rather have a daughter that gets crazy/stupid and is open, honest and safe about it. No one wants their daughters to drink, do drugs or end up pregnant, but it’s far better to know what’s going on than be completely in the dark.
